About This Spot

Step inside Boudin Bakery on 10th Avenue and you’re greeted by the comforting warmth of a classic San Francisco neighborhood spot. It’s a place where the bustle slows down just enough to savor the aroma of freshly baked sourdough and the gentle hum of quiet conversations. Here, the atmosphere is unhurried, relaxed—perfect for lingering over a thoughtfully prepared sandwich or a bowl of chowder cradled by a buttery sourdough loaf.

Far from the crowds of the city’s busier locations, this corner of Boudin feels like a little secret shared among locals. The display cases tempt with a selection of breads that carry the unmistakable tang of traditional San Francisco sourdough, each loaf a testament to a baking craft rooted deep in the city’s history.

Dining at Boudin isn’t just about food—it’s about savoring simple pleasures in a familiar, welcoming setting. Whether you’re enjoying a cheesy garlic bread slice or the warmth of clam chowder served in a freshly hollowed bread bowl, the experience blends comforting flavors with a quiet ease that invites you to pause and reconnect. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t rush you, where you can enjoy the little human moments—smiling staff, the gentle crackle of crust being pulled apart, and neighbors exchanging greetings over a shared love of good bread.

In this bakery and sandwich shop, the pace is measured yet alive—a steady rhythm grounded in tradition but mindful of today’s slower demands. It feels less like a stop on a busy itinerary and more like a favored spot for those who cherish the everyday ritual of breaking bread and finding a moment of peace in San Francisco’s vibrant landscape.

I love this bakery and used to eat at Boudin bakery a lot. The clam chowder in a bread bowl I had delivered from here really hit the spot and I can see myself continuing to order lunch at this place and other Boudin bakery locations in this city. I highly recommend people eat here. The ambience of the place also looks amazing from pictures from this location I have seen. I give them 40 stars ⭐

"If you’re looking for a good, inexpensive spot, this is the place. They serve well-made sandwiches, pizza breads, and even soups and mac & cheese served in a whole bread loaf."

Famous bakery specializing in sourdough. This location is easy to get to and not usually crowded. They have the classic sourdough loaves in addition to other types of bread. However, they do not have the turtle-shaped loaves that you’ll find at the fisherman’s wharf location.

We had to try authentic sourdough bread in San Francisco! Boudin's does its baking on the premises, and it has fresh and delicious items.

Better than other places that serve clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. This bread was ultra fresh and the soup was a perfect consistency. Enjoyed the large Caesar salad as well. Thanks!!

This little Boudin location opens at 6am. Perfect for an early snack. I had their ham cheese croissant $4.25 and a cup of clam chowder $7. The croissant is not bad. They don't heat it up though; you know, to melt the cheese. The clam chowder came with a little piece of sourdough bread to dip into the soup. Quite frankly, the clam chowder at Safeway had more clams. I did enjoy this cup of chowder. There are much better clam chowder throughout the city. Boudin is good if you are in a hurry and don't want to sit down for some soup. Service is excellent (if you know about the one person in-store policy.)

Visited this place, first time, was packed but only 30 minute wait. Sourdough bread basket and butter, soft and tender crust and butter enhanced the great taste! Ordered with fanily-stew entree so delicious and very tender meat but small portion, clam chowder bread bowl was good but not the best I've had still tasty ($17.95 a little expensive) fish and chips were okay loved the fish not too crunchy and not greasy fries were soft and chewy a texture I like Cole slaw was good cost was around $24) margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza for $13 and size was bigger than expected, thin chewy crust, great flavor!
